German Vowels is an exercise in phonetics. It provides a sound and an image for the pronunciation of each German vowel by a native speaker of the language. It also provides a few examples of words that contain each of the vowels. The student has the option of clicking any of the words to hear its pronunciaton and see its voice pattern displayed on the screen. Another feature of this application is its sound recording capability. The user may record his or her own voice repeating a phonetic symbol and can then compare the resulting voice pattern with that of the native speaker's voice.
German Vowels is used for individual student exploration at Allegheny College.
This application was developed under NeXTstep release 2.0.
